Audrey Harris takes to the skies!
Audrey Harris (née Mann, at GCGS 1947 – 55) was sponsored to Wing Walk on a Boeing Stearman Biplane flying from Rendcomb airfield in Gloucestershire. This was to raise money to say thank you to the organisation FitzRoy which runs the care home in Malvern where my daughter Angie lived so happily for 30 years. She died of Covid in April 2023. FitzRoy headquarters are in Petersfield, and the first home opened in Grayshott.
BBC Midlands Today publicised the event and even the BBC national news broadcast it. The airfield was a base for WW1 pilots going to the Somme where Audrey’s father fought and when her Great Granddaughter had a lavish christening party, the guests gave to the fund instead of giving presents. Three generations watched the flight and it was a great family event.
There is a Chris Malone Just Giving website but donations have rolled in in a variety of ways. https://www.justgiving.com/page/chris-malone-1689083071132
